Scarf Community

What a great concept - a not-for-profit group using restaurants on their "closed" nights (Mondays) and providing "hands-on hospitality training and mentoring to marginalised youth who face barriers to obtaining fair access to training and employment" (scarfcommunity.org website)

Apparently the chefs are pro's, but the front-of-house staff are the trainees. I have only heard about it through one food critic (with positive reviews on the food), so quality definitely seems to be up there... I suppose if you eat for the food (and don't mind a little clumsiness by the wait staff), then this might be a good way to help get some of our disadvantaged community into a positive environment that could turn their lives around.

The are charging $35 for a 2-course meal aint all bad, and if anything, the cause is certainly worthy.  Some big names are already behind it (De Bortoli, Little Creatures, Di Bella Coffee, Natural Tucker bakery...), and I hope it does well.
Bookings essential though - details through their website.
